His strength increases further in Devil Trigger and even further in Sin Devil Trigger.

  • Superhuman strength- Vergil is able to parry the strikes of Dante and Nero, the former having the feat of blocking the Savior's mountain level punch in base form, in a weaker incarnation.
  • Dev Like Dante, is able to react to the lightning demons known as Blitz, placing him at massively hypersonic+ speeds at the very least in base, reaching near relativistic speeds in normal Devil Trigger and light speeds in Sin Devil Trigger In DMC3, his initial fight against Dante created a dome of air pressure around them as the speed of their swords blocked out all the raindrops as they fought.
  • Superhuman speed- Even in his younger years, Vergil had shown immense reaction and speed feats being able to spin his sword fast enough, it made at least 4 revolutions before the barrage of bullets reached him, before proceeding to use his sword to catch them out of the air, laying them down neatly in front of him.
  • Currently he is fighting the forces of the Underworld in his universe, alongside his brother Dante.īeing the half demon spawn of the powerful demon Sparda, Vergil possesses a wide range of supernatural abilities His history in RPG follows the main DMC timeline. The sight of the amulet caused him great anguish even when corrupted as Nelo Angelo. His failure may also have made him forsake close human relationships, due to his perceived fragility of humanity. It may also imply that Vergil seeks power as compensation for failing to protect her. This may be a reference to their mother's death. In Devil May Cry 3, Vergil seems to reveal some of his feelings by claiming to Dante: "Might controls everything, and without strength you cannot protect anything, let alone yourself.". Despite this, he cherishes certain things in his life: the sword Yamato, a katana left to him as a keepsake by his father, his own half of the Perfect Amulet, a keepsake from his mother and, after his own realization, his own son Nero. While Dante seeks to protect humanity from the demons, Vergil wants to obtain more power, regardless of the consequences for those around him. In contrast to Dante, Vergil embraces his demonic heritage, and seeks to emulate his father's power. This was seen in Devil May Cry 3 where he teamed up with Dante. If faced with an opponent he would need a partner to defeat, he will join forces with said partner despite having reservations. As seen in Devil May Cry 5, he forcibly ripped off Nero's Devil Bringer to reobtain Yamato, still bearing influences of his time as Nelo Angelo. In dire situations, he is not above actions that would seem desperate or those that would contradict his views. In Devil May Cry 5, Vergil refused to fight Dante when the latter was injured and tired from his last fight against Urizen, saying that defeating him in such a state has no meaning, preferring to face a fresh and healed Dante.

This code of honour is still present while he is corrupted as Nelo Angelo as he refuses to attack Dante from behind and faces him directly. He also refuses to use firearms and wields only his blade (Yamato) as well as other melee weapons he managed to obtain from defeated enemies. However, he is an honourable warrior who maintains his own set of morals and disciplines and this is evident with his dislike toward dirty and cheap tactics. Vergil cares little for the well-being of those around him, and is unflinching in his pursuit of power and thus bears a cold and ruthless demeanour. Contrasting with his twin brother Dante's boisterous, outgoing, and extroverted personality, Vergil is calm, cool, collected, and introverted, constantly maintaining an aura of fearlessness.
